Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is only performed on the face and is not meant for shaping eyebrows. The benefit of physical exfoliation is that it triggers the cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate the skin.

There are no side effects and zero downtime though your skin may show some redness. However, your skin will be more sun sensitive after the treatment so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. As with any post-exfoliation your skin is always more susceptible to sun damage.

Dermaplaning is especially effective on those with dry or dull skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone. It is also beneficial for mature skin, which tends to have a buildup of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age.

Dermaplaning is safe for pregnant or lactating clients who cannot have chemical peels. (Peels penetrate skin to act at the cellular level, thus are contraindicated when pregnant.) Those with very oily or active acne should avoid this procedure as well as anyone with thick, dark facial hair.
